Prison 77 is a powerful dive into the Spanish penitentiary system just after the end of the dictatorship in 1977, a turbulent moment of newfound freedom when the fate of political prisoners was somehow forgotten. Manuel (Miguel Herrán) is a young accountant sentenced to an excessive 20 years for having embezzled the equivalent of 1,200 Euros. Aided by his cellmate Pino (Javier Gutiérrez) Manuel will become the leader of a movement that will unite all prisons in the fight for freedom and change prison laws and society forever.
