Primarily set in Barcelona, Marco, The Invented Truth, follows the life of CNT secretary general and imposter Enric Marco, who climbed the ladder towards fame on the basis of the fake identity of being a Nazi concentration camp survivor. Reaching positions of power such as becoming the president of a Holocaust survivors’ group, Marco’s web of lies remained undetected for over twenty years. This film undertakes the disentanglement of a narrative, in all its complexity, which deceived so many, for so long, and appalled the masses when exposed.Trigger warnings: Contains scenes with verbal violence.
