Chinas, A Second Generation Story

Chinas is the story of Lucía, Xiang and Claudia, three girls of chinese descent all live in Madrid but in opposite worlds. Lucía is the 9-year-old daughter of Chinese immigrants, and her dream is to have her birthday party in Burger King; her parents, non-spanish speakers who work 14-plus hours in the market to carve a future out for their daughters, believe that’s something for Spanish people. Claudia, the teenage sister of Lucía, is starting to experience first-hand cultural difference and racism amongst her peers. FInally, 9-year-old Xiang is adopted, and starting to ask questions about her biological family These three stories intersect and move apart, but the central objective remains the same: the search for one’s identity. Content warnings: Some mild bad language and suggested threats of violence
